I Am Leaving Town, But What Should I Take?
Sep 07 '00
First off, I love to travel, so I keep a small travel bag packed and ready to go. I never know when I am just going to pick up and go. I have been on many a trip at a moments notice. Packing to go on a trip in 10 minutes can be quite a feat, so if you have at least one bag packed, you will be step ahead.
Now, what should you take? Well, that all depends on how complex your skin care regimen is. A lot also depends on where you are going and how much time you will be able to spend on yourself. For example, if you are going camping, most likely you will not have everything right at your disposal. I know where I usually go camping we have access to a "public" bathroom. Of course, there are showers and mirrors, but who wants to stand in front of a small mirror and go thru the whole routine.
Las Vegas is one of my favorite destinations. I know when I go to Vegas, I don't want to spend hours cleaning my face and so forth. I come in somewhere around 4 or 5 in the morning, sleep for a few hours, and then I am up again. The last thing that I want to do is worry about spending another hour doing my face.
So, I have come up with a few essentials that do not take much time or extra work. Here they are:
1. Clearasil Daily Face Wash--it is one of my favorites. It is great to use, because it is medicated and keeps my face nice and fresh. I use this in the evening to wash off my makeup. It is so simple to use and can even be used in the shower. First, you wet your face, then you squeeze a small amount to your hands; add water and work it into a foam. You then apply it to your face and work it in. You are then ready to rinse it off. The whole process only takes about 45 seconds. I like it because it is nice and quick and works great!
2. Noxema--a "classic" that never goes out of style. I have been using this product for years. I have used it in the morning and evening in the past. However, now I usually just use it in the morning. I use it to "wake" myself up. It has such a clean smell with a touch of menthol. This is like an instant energy booster. The great thing about it is that it only calls for two steps; apply and rinse with plain old water.
3. Avon's Natural Shower Gel--these are so convenient. You can hang them from your shower rod, which makes them easy to use. They come in several different scents. I have a couple favorites such as, Blueberry(a new scent), Sea(has little particles of sand-great for exfoliating), Raspberry Royale, and Wildflowers. Other scents include: Watermelon, Mango, Cherry Blossom, Freesia, Honeysuckle, and Fuzzy Peach. I have not tried all of them, but the ones that I have tried have all been wonderful. They are nice and strong and the scent lingers for hours. So, they double as a soap and make you smell good. They also leave your skin feeling silky smooth(great for a shaving gel also).
4. Sunscreen--this is a must, especially while camping. I have learned the hard way to always apply sunscreen. I usually keep a SPF 30 on hand. This is for those times when I am going to be exposed to the sun for hours. I buy one that I can use on my face as well as my body. The face tends to be sensitive and burns easily. I have had much luck if I apply a SPF 30; it will keep me from burning throughout the day. It is also good to buy one that is water-resistant. Because, of sweating or swimming, it will fade real fast.
5. After Sun Lotion--last, but not least. I keep a big bottle of Banana Boat's Aloe After Sun Lotion. This stuff is great and works wonders. For those times when I do get burned, I apply this very generously. It really helps to take the sting away. I tend to peel a lot less, if any, while using it.
Now, these are just a few of my essentials. I guess the most important and most convenient. I like to take Vaseline, alcohol, and anti-bacterial gels with me. These are all great to add into your bag. Traveling is fun, but can be a hassle. I used to always seem to forget things, but now I just keep my bag with those 5 essentials and I am ready to go!!
