My "Baby Rinker" is the reason I go to work everyday!Nov 01 '00 Write an essay on this topic. My "Baby Rinker" is the reason I go to work everyday. She is my pride and joy. There are costs involved with owning a boat. Below are some of the things you will need to be prepared for if you decide to purchase one: * Winterization - at the end of every summer you MUST get your boat winterized. The cost of this can run anywhere from $100.00 on up, deciding what extras you have done. * Wheel Bearings - you should repack your wheel bearings at the very least every other year. Depending on if you have a double axle trailor or not (4 tires instead of 2) the cost can vary. Anywhere from $25.00 - $50.00 a tire. * Oil Changes - you should change your oil once a year also. This could run anywhere from $20.00 on up. * Registration fees and trailor plates - This price of course depends on the year and style of your boat. * Insurance - this is a MUST. There is a huge responsibility in owning and operating a boat. Of course this price will vary also. * Winter storage - some people store them outside, some of us like to store them during the winter to reduce the wear and tear on the boat and trailor. * Tires - when the tires on the trailor wear out, they are costly to replace. Of course price will vary widely. * Gas - it takes extra gas in your vehicle to pull it back and forth to the lake and of course there is gas used while on the lake. * Marina rental - if you don't want to trailor your boat back and forth you can rent a space on the water. This depends on your location but typically runs anywhere from $200.00 up for the Summer season. The list could go on and on, I'm sure. This may seem like a lot of cost or hassle, but to me the enjoyment that my boat and being on the water gives me is well worth it. |
