Family boat
Nov 29 '00
I have owned 5 boats in my life so far. 2 of the 5 have been Rinkers - a 19' and 21' both open bow. Rather than dwell on the other 3 I would much rather talk about my current 21' Rinker. Let's just say the other 3 were big brand name boats that cost significantly more than either Rinker.
I will say pound for pound, dollar for dollar, and feature for feature the Rinker boats blew the others away. I'm a true believer in value and Rinker, in my estimation, is a true dollar value on the market.
Currently I own a 1995 Rinker Captiva 212 with sport seating and a 4.3 liter Mercruiser engine. The boat will hit about 45 mph with 3 adults. I use it with my family primarily for skiing, tubing, knee boarding, and relaxing on the Mississippi river north of St Louis. I pull the boat all over a 300 mile radius of St Louis with a 1999 Ford Windstar minivan with a 3.8L engine.
It is a wonderful family boat. It does a lot of things very well. It has good storage space, is comfortable, takes waves or wakes very nicely, trailers easily, cleans easily, and is very solid. This is my second Rinker (first was a 1986 V-190 19 foot open bow) and will not be my last. I have been very pleased with Rinker's response when I call them or email them and ask stupid questions. All in all they produce a great product.
