Pros:An absolute great read

Cons:the roller coaster ride of emotions this book puts you through

This is a powerful story about Hiroko a Japanese girl who comes to America to live with her uncle in California to get an education and instead finds what it is to be in love for the first time and what it is like to be an enemy in a foreign land.

I enjoy most of Danielle Steel's books but this one was different for me. It was more than just a story I was made me feel as if I were living the story with the main character, Hiroko. This book sent me on a roller coaster ride of emotions such as love, sadness, fear and even sometimes hate. I was even surprised to find myself crying at times.

This was perhaps the only time I would really have an insight to what this time was like in our American History and to know how it felt to be a stranger turned enemy in a foreign land where all you want is to go home or to be accepted and realize that neither is going to happen.
