More junk mail!!!Jun 18, 2000 Write an essay on this topic.OK so you join a book club and in comes the JUNK MAIL. At first it is only a few pieces then an avalanche of it. The book club you just joined has sold you name to a national mailing list and along with unwanted weekly shipments of books, that never stop coming, come the junk mail. You send for a specific book which you wanted so badly to read and they take it upon themselves to send you a substitute, because your book is on back order. So you sit in your living room with this substitute book "101 Ways to Mount a Fish" and you must silently laugh. You brought this upon yourself. Now try and get out of it. You write a polite letter explaining that you want to cancel your membership. The very next day in the mail comes your fourth shipment of books for that month. You fire off another letter and return the unwanted books. No reply and more books arrive. Upon writing your sixth letter, you get a threatening letter from a collection agency for payment of the previously returned four book shipments that you never requested. Am I against joining local book clubs? YES!!! I run for the door.  |
