Half.com good for buyers and sellers

Jul 18 '00

I buy and sell books on half.com. I have sold items on eBay for over a year, and I can see why eBay bought half.com--the site is an awesome place to buy and sell books, music, and computer games. Selling on half.com is amazingly easy. You just type in the ISBN number and the condition of the book. The description of the book, and often a photo, are already in the half.com database.

When someone buys an item, you get an email with the buyers address. Send it book rate, the buyer pays half.com and half.com pays you. I sold 4 books in the first 3 days of listing. The site is amazing for buyers too, because you know the price instantly and are notified within 24 hours to confirm that the item is coming.

You get to see the entire list of sellers offerings for a particular book or CD, with condition and prices. Pick the lowest price for the condition book that you desire. RESULT: Sellers tend to compete with each other to offer the lowest price to get the quickest sale.

Bottom line: half.com would have kicked eBay's butt in the book, CD, games categories if eBay had not bought the company. In time half.com may take a bite out of Amazon.com!
