3 hours and your good to goJun 09 '00 (Updated Jul 03 '00) Write an essay on this topic.Okay, it took me about 4 hours to get through everything I know about HyperTextMmarkupLanguage, and I will admit it, I only know the basics(take a look at my web page). HTML is undoubtedly the easiest computer language to learn I've ever seen. I write in basic, and have looked into Javascript and C++ which are much more difficult. HTML isn't as useful or as fun as any of the other languages. Well, it can be as useful, but all you can do with it is make web pages. Yeah sure you can make words look like this., but that's hardly as much fun as writing your own game. If you do want to learn a language, HTML is probably the best place to start. I was interested in making web pages a few years ago, so I signed up for angelfire. They had a HTML tutorial, which I thought I'd give a try.Of any tutorial on the web I've ever seen, this was the easiest to understand. I was making colored text, adding pictures, and editing light java that day. I was very interested and wanted to do more, but then I realized to do anything impressive I had to go and learn javascript or CGi(still unsure what this is), and that really turned me off. If your looking for more than just changing colors of text, I recommend Qbasic or visual Basic, which is more challenging, but it doesn't take a whole lot to learn, and you can make games all the way up to what the professionals use. you can also convert into another language, once you mastered one. The only thing this takes is time. HTML can be learned in less than a day where beginning basic will take at least a week. If your wondering more of what HTML is, then i'll give you a list of a few things you can do with it, then some code to use.*If your still not satisfied I'm making a really easy tutorial of my own which should be on my web page who knows when. • <s>strikethrough</s> • title web pages <title>this is the title</title> • <font color="red" size="4" face="helectiva">change font color, size, and style</font> • <a href= http://www.angelfire.com/pq/blingbling/index.html >make a link</a> • <img src="http://image.com/image1">make an image</img> • < H-R >(w/o the hyphen)<hr> make a line • <td>make a table</td> • <input value="input your email address"> * put in a backslash to end the command These are just a few things you can do with html, but there isn't a lot more to know. In a growing computer age, a skill like this could prove useful. Since it's pretty easy, I recommend anyone try to get to learn even a little HTML. You'll be glad you did. |
