Pros:Short selections, practical, optimistic
Cons:A bit too much stress on old=fashioned lifestyle and/or Victoriana
I received this book as a gift last Christmas, but did not look into it until the spring. When I did, I realized what I had been missing! This beautifully written book provides a daily portion of thought and inspiration, usually one page long, which is specific wihout being trite.Ms. Breathnach's outlook is cheerful, without being sentimental. Her "Simple Abundance" plan calls for positive, action-directed thoughts, with specific suggestions for following through on each day's meditation. For example, when she writes about being discouraged about clutter, she suggests a practical plan for approaching the problem of disorganization which will not intimidate. She has a spiritual, but not specifically religious attitude toward life and its ups and downs. I find this attractive, as opposed to some "self-help" authors who seem to have more of an agenda in their writing. I have not read the sequel to this book, but hope that it is as positive and practical as her first.
