My husband and I had a beautiful girl the first time around. Once she turned 4 we decided it was time to start working on number 2. My husband definately wanted to try for a boy so I picked this book up one day while I was browsing around in the bookstore.
This book was really interesting to read. I got very involved in it at the bookstore and did not want to put it down. It discusses the biological reasonings and basis behind choosing the sex of your baby. This gives you a good idea of exactly how he came up with this method. It is not watered down but also not difficult to understand. I liked the fact that this was not merely a technique book but one that actually gave reasoning and research behind the hypothesis.
Secondly this book was filled with testimonials as well. It had plenty of examples from people who had used this method. They explained why they were trying to choose the sex of their baby which is nice to hear. Then it also went into some of the ways they used this method to make it work for them.
Last the book gives a detailed plan for choosing the sex of your baby. They have a certain calendar you need to go by along with certain sexual positions that make it more likely to conceive a boy or girl. You have to follow it precisely according to the book and of course nothing is guaranteed however his statistics seem to be good as stated in the book.
I read this book from front to finish and employed its technique as best I could. It did not take us long at all to conceive which was pretty exciting. We could not wait for the ultrasound to find out if we indeed were going to have that little boy.
The day of the ultrasound arrived and we could hardly sleep the night before. I hoped they would be able to tell the sex of the baby as we were really curious about it. Sure enough the ultrasound technician took no time in telling us that this baby was not modest at all. As a matter of fact the baby was in a position that made it perfectly clear beyond a shadow of a doubt that we were indeed going to be having a.......
GIRL!!!!!!!
Yep that's right folks---this method didn't work for me!
Am I dissapointed? No way! It would have been nice in a way for my husband to have had the experience of having a son but....
We were both just so happy to be having a baby! We didn't care in the end whether it was a girl or a boy. You won't either.
My suggestion for those who want to take a crack at choosing the sex: Go for it! The way I see it you have a 50/50 chance no matter what so you might as well improve your odds by giving this method a whirl. It's worth a shot but...
Don't bet all your cards on it. At the end of the day I'd say...use this book for the fun of it. Use it just to see if it works. But in the end accept that it's all a roll of the dice. Either way you get the baby and that's all any of us really wanted in the first place.
There is one surefire way to choose the sex of your baby that will guarantee you 100 percent a boy or a girl: ..ADOPT. Beyond that I would suggest putting your money on a night out at Chili's in place of the purchase of this book.

My rating for this book is basically based on an average between the actual readability of the book combined with whether or not it worked. I enjoyed reading this book and had the method worked I would have given it a 5. However, it didn't and so regardless of how well the book may have been written I just had to throw it back a few notches. After all...the whole point of the book was the title..choosing the sex..and since it didn't work I felt compelled to knock off a few points for that.
