A Great Change For Guinness

Written: May 09 '00
Pros:Guinness Is Always Great
Cons:Stay Away From the "Greatest Eyeball Protrusion" Picture!

Okay, so it's been awhile since I've picked up a Guinness World Records book, but the cover caught my eye. It's shiny silver metallic, and much larger than the original books by Guinness. I don't know the exact measurement, but it's bigger than standard paper size. My best guess would be about 12" by 5". Anyway, that's not really important.

What's important is the change in the entire style. Guinness calls it, "The most significant Guinness Book of Records ever," and I believe that's right. The entire book is in color, and I don't think that's ever been done before. They've also broken their book down into 10 categories with numerous sub-categories in each. They even have a new "Fame" category which has information of more than just actors and singers. It also contains: Pet Stars, Campaigns, World Leaders and more. The book also has a new "Media and Pop Culture," section which contains various interesting facts.

Their new table of contents makes it much easier for you to find what you're looking for without having to use the index. Each page contains at least 3 or 4 pictures--I don't know about you, but I always find them interesting. I'm kind of in shock about a picture I just saw--the "Greatest Eyeball Protrusion." It looks like something out of The Exorcist if you ask me. I better turn the page, I might have nightmares about that one! I also learned recently that a man lived under water for two days without any equipment. Apparently he found an air bubble and some fresh water in a tea urn.

As always, Guinness is a great book for the whole family. It is sure to keep you entertained for a very long time. There's always so much stuff you never knew you didn't know, if that makes any since at all. This new Millennium Edition is the best of them all, and it makes a great coffee table accessory that is sure to entertain your guests. I'm sorry but I don't know the price; I received this as a gift. As long as it doesn't exceed $30 then I'd pay for it. Please check it out, this book is sure to become a classic of the Guinness collection.
