All I can say is "Wow, what a let down". Well, I could say worse but it wouldn't be polite.
The Net Force / Op-Center series are pathetic pseudo-Clancy novelettes that bear little resemblance to his magnum opus "The Sum of All Fears" or even the weaker but still entertaining "Patriot Games". This is brand dilution at it's worst. A relatively competent author could crank one of these puppies out in about 12 hours, with an hour off for lunch, while playing Sega (which is about the level of "Net" sophistication inherent in the plot). Maybe I'm being too critical, but the book is such a departure from true Clancy works that one can't help feeing ripped off.
If you are looking for the paperback equivalent of Baywatch then by all means pick it up (not that there is any titillation in the book, but the dialogue is roughly the same), if you were expecting Clancy's normal technical thoroughness and character development: just keep walking...nothing to see here...
