Way to Go Amazon!

I have been pleasantly surprised by the performance of Amazon.com during this holiday season. After the reports from how poorly the dot.coms had performed last Christmas, this year I was just a bit cautious.

I had used Amazon.com in the past for one-book orders, but never for something substantial.

I had done my window shopping at a local Barnes and Noble and had looked at the books and reviewed them carefully, jotting down the titles and prices, and found that I would have paid $150 including tax to make my purchase in the store.

I then set out for my "chance" to see if Amazon would make or break my Christmas and was just as pleased as can be. First, my cost was $104 instead of $150. Second, I ordered before Dec 10th and received their free shipping for orders over $100. Third, I was assured that I would have the order before Christmas. Prior Amazon.com orders had been here within 3 or 4 days and Amazon.com delivered this time as well.

I had wanted everything delivered at once, but they wanted to send them as they were available (even if it cost extra) so that i would have as much as I could get by Christmas. The first package arrived within 3 days and the whole order was in by the fifth day.

One problem that I have noticed with a few dot.com orders is the poor packing job. Amazon had plenty of plastic air bubles and had even shrink wrapped a "mini-pallet" for the large part of the order and everything arrived as expected.

Great job! Highly recommended!
