A Teacher Should Know

Reading is fun! Yeah, right! According to many of my students, reading is ANYTHING but fun. However, there IS something they ALL agree to: Being read TO is where it's at! But who am I to say reading matters? Ask children, they'll tell you!

They LOVE to be read to! In fact, it's a common family ritual w/ young children, but what about older children? Did you know that children can understand far more than they can read? In other words, they may not be able to READ a 9th grade level book, but they they may be able to understand one when it's read TO them!

That's right, what about the older children? Even Jr. High level children LOVE to be read to! Also, at this age, their independence is growing, wouldn't reading w/ your child be a great way to get that bond back? Setting aside time every night w/ your teenager can be a special reminder of the time you used to have when they were little. You'll laugh and cry together and have something REAL to talk about besides,"did you take out the trash?". So.. READ, it does a family good!
