Who'd He Think He Was Fooling, Anyway?

Pros:Excellent style, fast paced
Cons:Darker than some of his other work
Stephen King has a style that he just can't hide, but that is exactly what he attempted to do in the Bachman books. Surrounded by phenomenal success (with more to come!) King felt it necessary to try the waters again and submit a series of stories under a pen name "Richard Bachman". What was he thinking! Released years ago, his Bachman stories have stayed with this avid King fan longer than some of his more recent works. The Long Walk and Thinner are most especially stories that tug at your gut. With extreme sports gaining in popularity, this story becomes even more plausible today. And who can say that we are so far away from the sort of medical advances that might allow a body change like that suffered by the main character in Thinner? Excellent writing, some of his best and darkest work.
