Wheel of Time Series

Nine books out now with the recent release of Winter's Heart.

Perhaps the publisher will have a temporary reprieve from the common question "When is the next one coming out?" I've read them all several times except for the most recent. I was pretty disappointed with the last offering, but the newest makes up for it.

Jordan has created a marvelous world of heroes and legends that is filled with characters both human and humane. There are a few inhuman characters as well. Some of them such as the Ogiers are more humane than most folks. There exists the classic struggle between good and evil and at times it is hard to distinguish which is which. The great factions of people all have their own agendas that often get at cross-purposes to one another.

The characters are quite compelling and the story starts off with a simple band of folks who each grow and develop and become strong individual characters often with individual story lines that weave in and out of the main story line like great threads in a long woven cloth.

This is a wonderful creation of a world just a step sideways from our own, of an age to come or maybe an age long past. It has great imaginative use of swords and sorcery. I certainly believe this to be an epic series that will endure.
