HomeMediaBooksHow To Get Children Interested in Books

Reward reward reward!

I believe in order to get your child interested in reading you should reward him/her. When I was in school and they were trying to get us to read 1 book a month they rewarded us with pizza. We all loved pizza. And at the end of the year, we had a pizza party! But during the year we put little stars up on a chart, one star for each book. Once we completed a certain amount of books...we got a free pizza from Pizza Hut with their reading program. So we really tried to read as much as possible.

I do think that when a parent reads to a child from the moment she/he is home that the child will forever remember that and have more interest in reading herself. So I do recommend reading to your child as much as possible. The child has more interest because it is a special bonding time between you and your child. She/he feels secure and loved. And what fun! :)

But if you want your child to be interested in something, it is great to reward them. They seem to respond much better! :) I know I did!
