Please read to a childJan 25 '00 Write an essay on this topic.I believe that reading to your child is an important fundamental of parenting. It is one activity that covers a wide spectrum. In this one activity you spend quality one on one time with your child. In our sometimes busy lives this can be lacking. We rush from one thing to another this is one excellent opportunity to sit and cuddle with your children. It also gives them a wonderful look into different worlds. I love to read, always have. I believe it opens up the world. You can show books that teach love and understanding to all the people of the world. Books teaches imagination and nothing is too silly. I believe books can encourage kids to do and be anything they want to be. I think kids can relate to books. If you have a particular issue you are dealing with, I am sure there is a book out there will help you and child connect whether it be potty training, cleaning your room. I also feel that reading is a wonderful thing to do for their communication skills. They get to listen to a wider vocabulary they might not hear in normal conversation. For younger children it gives them direct language contact for their speech development. I think it builds comprehension skills. Reading then discussing what happens in a story helps them process and understand what they heard. Most of all I think reading and cultivating a love of books gives the best base for them learning to read. There are only great things to gained by reading to your children. What a wonderful gift to give them.  |
