| kims4girls's Full Review: One Guinea Pig Is Not Enough |
For those that have read some of my other reviews, you know how much I adore reading. I have a particular fondness for children's books. My girls and I are frequent visitors to the local library, always looking for that special treasure.
We sure found one yesterday!!
Kate Duke as accomplished something special with One Guinea Pig Is Not Enough.
When I first picked it up off the shelf, it was the adorable illustrations that drew me to it. Upon reading a few pages, I was completely hooked. Not only do the lil' pigs have fun names like Plato and Buttercup, but the education made available is awesome.
This sweet book is about adding from one to ten. The colorful, fun loving guinea pigs participate in different activities each time another is added. This book isn't your average "counting" book. It uses actual addition and equal signs to show math concepts. An excerpt from the book follows:
"Three giggling guinea pigs plus one singing guinea pig make four dancing guinea pigs"
The text is full of descriptive, imaginative words and like I said earlier...the illustrations are near perfection.
This is one book that will be purchased and added to our collection.
