Death Lands

Written: May 21 '00
Pros:inexpensive and great reading
Cons:They're not put out fast enough

In 1987 I started to read a series called Death Lands. I worked in a retail book store at the time and just happened to run across Pilgrimage to Hell. The future has changed. It is 100 years since a nuclear holocaust (june 20th 2001) and survival is the the main concern. Our travelers happen across a pre-war redoudt and find that they can travel throughout the deathlands by way of gateway chambers. The jumps are random and they are taken to many different cities and rural areas in the country. Ryan Cawdor and his companions, J.B. Dicks, the armorer, Doc Tanner, an old man trolled from the past and dumped into the future by ruthless scientists, Krysty Roth, an empath beautiful but dangerous, Jak Lauren, an albino from the swamps of Louisiana, Nathan Cawdor, Ryans' 15 year old son and finally a doctor, Mildred Wyeth, a woman the companions found in a chryogenics chamber and thawed out. I found myself picking up every one of the series since the beginning and have enjoyed all of them. They are a quick, interesting read.
