| cymsteve's Full Review: The Triathlete's Training Bible: A Complete Traini... |
This is indeed the most comprehensive triathlon resource on the bookshelf.
Nearly 350 pages crammed with tips on swimming, biking, running, nutrition, planning, racing and recovery, laid out in an easy to follow, logical way.
Friel says that "multisport training is much like putting a jigsaw together" - not only does he provide all the pieces but he lays them all out ready to be placed in the right position.
This book will teach you all the skills for the 3 triathlon disciplines, how to train smarter, not harder and learn the best techniques for increasing endurance. It also covers the mental aspect of the tough sport, covering everything from passion to attitude.
Appendices include excellent annual training plan worksheets, individual and combined workouts for swimming, biking and running and sample diary pages.
It is an excellent first read, but more importantly it is THE resource to keep referring to and will be the most used book in any triathletes collection.
