Pros:Very Well Written, Constant Action, Don't Want To Stop Reading!
Cons:Say Goodbye to Your Social Life Until You Finish!
Yes, I'll admit it. I don't like to read all that much. Unless I have something in front of me that *I* find interesting, I won't want to read it. If I'm forced to read it, sure, I will. But, will I comprehend what I'm reading? Of course not.
My whole family loves to read, even my 7 year old sister. I think she has read more books than I have! : ) My parents were always talking about the Dirk Pitt novels, especially when a new one came out. They always fought over who gets to read it first. I always thought this was silly, but whatever floats their boat, right?
A few months ago, my Mom came home from a library with 4 or 5 Clive Cussler books for me. They were used, and didn't cost more than $.20 a piece, but I would have felt bad not reading them since she bought them for me. My first Clive Cussler book was Sarah, and I've read about 4 more since then. Every one I have read was a semi-recent one, and were all wonderful!
The beauty of Clive Cussler novels is that you don't have to read any previous books to get what they are talking about. Sure, they mention other books from time to time, but only as a "remember when..." It's not critical to have read EVERY Dirk Pitt novel to enjoy the story.
If you are the type of Indiana Jones movie loving kind of person (which I am), you'll greatly enjoy Dirk Pitt novels, no doubt! I'd like to hear some opinions of who would make a good Dirk Pitt if one of his more known books became a movie. I think David Duchoveny (spelling?) would definately fit the physical and attitude aspects, what do you think?
