shellyg's Full Review: Mary Ashby McDonald - Starting & Running Your Own ...
If you have one horse or care for 50, this book is an excellent place to start for information, ideas, management techniques, tips and even recordkeeping forms. I refer back to it often for help with my four horses. As anyone who has owned a horse knows, there is alot to keep track of!! This book has a basic, beginner approach so it would be understandable even to a first time horse owner. That said, don't write this one off if you consider yourself and expert because there are some great money making tips and organizational charts that are worth seeing.
If you like this book you would also enjoy Stablekeeping by Cherry Hill. I have several of her books including Horse Handling and Grooming, Horse Health Care, and Horsekeeping on a Small Acreage. The writing style is similar to that of Mary McDonald. There are excellent photographs in Hill's books that make them nice even for kids. So keep reading, you can never have enough horse literature on the coffee table, in the bathroom, next to the bed, in the truck........(yup, I'm a nut!)
Ride and Read on!!
