Leave it up to King to be brazen enough to market these pocket books for a price that rivals the wage commanded by Shortstop Alex Rodriguez - asking fans to pay that price takes brass cojones! But like Rodriguez, if your worth it - fans will pay. This book is worth it.
King's writing quietly opens a door in time and for a few hours, as I slip on through I can smell the air of the prison, taste the food and hear the night time quiet. His writing never seems to intrude, never reminds me that I this is only a story. I am there, we are there...watching the events unfold.
I grew to love the gentle giant, the pet mouse and the Frenchman and to hate and even loathe that pissant guard, Percy. King draws out our emotions and spins a tale where the ending is not as obvious as you might believe.
King has managed to control his verbosity (for once) and actually tells the story - "just right". A definite "buy".
