I was so excited and anxious when I received Emeril Lagasse's Every Day Is a Party cookbook for a Christmas gift! As an avid fan of his, I couldn't wait to look at the book, as sometimes I read cookbooks just for enjoyment. When I got into the book I was a little disappointed. My reasons for this are quite selfish. All of the stories are nice, but are they necessary? Why didn't he just pen a small book with these stories and give me more recipes? Don't get me wrong, I like the book and how each story incorporated the recipes that followed, but when I buy a cookbook or receive one as a gift, that is what I expect. I was also expecting to "BAM" my way to success! No such luck! Also, I live where it is hard to find a lot of the ingredients that are required for a lot of the recipes, which is a big deal to me when buying new cookbooks. Needless to say, after trying one recipe, the book has been place neatly on the shelf with other cookbooks I don't frequently use!
