Asimov is a Legend

by arky333 , Jan 20 '00
Pros: Original, Very Well Thought Out Tales
Cons: I can't think of any.
I am writing an agreeing opinion of the one penned by greenspj, so I will not repeat his facts. I would like to add to the list of facts, however. Asimov started his Foundation series at 21 years of age. This series received a Hugo Award for...

21st-Century Man: Isaac Asimov

by kevincmurphy , Dec 02 '99
Pros: With Arthur C. Clarke and Ray Bradbury, the preeminent science fiction writer of our generation.
Cons: He's so prolific, it's hard to know where to start (Try Foundation or Robots)
Like Arthur C. Clarke, Mr. Asimov devoted his life to popularizing the science fiction genre. For that, I am forever in his debt.

On a more personal note, Asimov's first Foundation trilogy rank among the best reads of my early life. Hari...

Did You Know?

by caradoc Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, May 29 '00
Pros: Astonishingly readable, coming from a scientific background
Cons: Some essays appear a bit dated, while others have since been cast aside as "wrong."
One of the most prolific writers on the planet, Isaac Asimov did not write only science fiction. He also wrote a number of mystery novels (yes, some of them did include some amount of science fiction) and an awful lot of non-fiction.

One of...

Isaac Asimov, prolific, fantastic, and downright good

by hbomb111 , Jun 08 '00
Pros: lots, i don't feel like retyping my whole epinion
Cons: slightly slightly outdated as he started writing in what, the thirties?
Who hasn't heard of Isaac Asimov? He's perhaps one of the most prolific writers ever. He wrote, of course, much acclaimed sci/fi, but he also wrote huge amounts of nonfiction. His mysteries are also fantastic (of course, the most famous of these are...

Best writer of the 20th century

by kurt_h Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Oct 25 '99
Pros: Best writer of our age
Cons: I still have over a hundred books of his to get... what a list that is!
Isaac Asimov was the renaissance man of our century. First noted for his science fiction, Mr. Asimov went on to write about more topics (from the Bible to Shakespeare to Mathematics to Physics and beyond) with a prose style unmatched by any author I...

Azazel

by NetDanzr Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Jul 01 '00
Pros: Hilarious, novel concept, refreshing after all the serious books I've read by Asimov.
Cons: Out of print.
It is sad that there is no category for this book at Epinions (and it's not even in the Epinions book database), because there's not a better example for Asimov's talent.

Just consider Asimov's books. Most of the time (and I'm talking about...

Hugo- Best All-Time Sci-Fi Series

by Kirkstir , Oct 01 '99
Pros: Scope, fluid style, landmark status
Cons: none
Isaac Asimov is arguably the best known and loved science fiction writer of our time. Actually Isaac has written so many books on so many subjects it's difficult to focus on one subject but I will try.

The Foundation series is probably his...

Nemesis

by cmashby , Nov 04 '99
Pros: Asimov, enough said!
Cons: slightly disappointing ending
Like other Asimov novels, the setting revolves around a few characters. The plot is essentially
about the fate that awaits the planet earth as a star named Nemesis approaches Earth. Only
several people know of this impending tragedy...
