Pros: May be nothing happen to you if you business never grow Cons: Apply hidden rules, rude, thnik they are above the law. No business sense.
I have had a merchant account with Elavon, then known as Nova, since 2006 to process credit card for my company. I have had a perfectly clean record without any incidents, no chargebacks and no complaints. My customer who operates a chain of furniture ...
Pros: They are nice on the phone while they are screwing you. Cons: They will suck you for every dime. Do not trust this organization.
I started an antique business and signed up with Nova Information Systems about 2 years ago. Unfortunately, I didn't have the time and had to shut the doors. That is when the trouble started with Nova. Being a nice guy, I told them that I would be ...
Pros: Up-time and Reliability, 24 hour c/s, many services offered Cons: They have restrictions on what they can do just like every other processor out there
I have been an employee of Nova Information Systems for the last 7+ years. Although at times I understand that some complaints are legitimate, all I can say is BE SURE TO READ YOUR CONTRACT THOROUGHLY. Most processors out there will give you a good ...
Pros: They speak English, they know how to count Cons: No customer service and no conscience about taking your money.
The company I work for changed over to Nova Information Systems in Sept 07 to process their credit card transactions. We had previously used a company called Moneris (widely used in Canada). I had read some unfavorable press about Nova before we signed ...
Pros: Deposits on time Cons: Fees are way to high!!!!
All transactions were correct & timely. As long as I paid the high fees. But somehow I felt that an average 3.5% of my sales over the past 2yrs seamed high. It should be noted that processing company sales people all promise low discount rates but never ...
I Have been with Nova merchant services since 2003, I changed from mineris for the fee reduction, Through Costco. Im amazed Costco will associate themselves with such a company. We are a small company with an average sale of 1200.00 Just this week we ...
Pros: You can accept credit cards Cons: Everything
When I signed up i was told the fee's were $25.00 a month and a small fee per transaction, and that there were no other fee's.
I sent them a check for $695 for some software, they made two check drafts in the same amount getting over $2,000 of my...
Pros: I don't know of any Cons: Very aggressive, expensive; and will help themselves to your funds
I process credit cards in my office, and became a NOVA customer when they bought out another company. Not only did their fees rise and solicitations for additional services drove us mad, but they actually took $195 out of my bank account 2 months after I...
Pros: After set up it is easy to process a credit card. Cons: Outrageous price, non-working AVS, terrible customer support, does not value current customers
I have been processing with NOVA for over a year. I am paying an outrageous discount rate on top of the high set-up fees. The software they sell for hundreds of dollars is a program that a 10year old kid could make on any outdated computer, when I...
Pros: None Cons: -Higher discount fees than competitor
-Horrible customer service
I was NOVA's customer for good two years. Today was my last day as their customer, which I'm so glad for. Anyway, my bank (who gave me commercial loan) forced NOVA down my throat for two years. I signed up with another merchant after two years & ...
Fast and very efficient so far... by porterlw ,Feb 17 '06
Pros: Fast and easy set-up, great rates, good support. Cons: I wish the yearly Membership fee of $30.00 would be eliminated.
I just started my online business through a reseller of Nova Information Systems and was extremely pleased. Mike at www.Premiermerchantservices.com was always quick to respond to any questions I had,(usually replied within 10 minutes via e-mail or phone). Step by step instructions and explanations of the process and of all the individual fees BEFORE I had to ask about them. As an additional perk I was given a discount on my payment gateway setup fee (usually $299.00)and only had to pay $99.00 and received 250 free payment gateway transactions a month!
I should be up and running within the next month. If any snags or problems arise I will definitely re-post and let you know.
Pros: simple, reliable, and competitive credit card processing. Cons: antiquated software with only dialup processing available
After reading the first two reviews, I have to put in my two cents. I have been a customer of Nova / Merchant Services for four years. I have had absolutely no problems what-so-ever with this organization. Their service and pricing has always been exactly as promised. I have never been over charged, deposits to my account are on time, and all statements are clear and accurate. I would personally highly recommend this credit card transaction processing company.
They look for anyway they can to get your money by jtl6713 ,Jun 01 '04
Pros: I can't think of any Cons: They look for loopholes to milk your hard earned sales.
I sell computer parts online. We have a fairly high chargeback rate (around 6%). Nova sent a letter (mailed on 3/10/04 and received by us on 3/13/04) notifying us that they will not process any more transactions for us because of the high chargeback rate. We understood that. However I received over $1000 in transactions after 3/10 which we sent to our customers as we received an approval number from nova that the transaction was fine. I noticed that the money was never deposited at the end of March. They say they need to keep the money in case there are more chargebacks. There has been 2 since then and since they have access to my account they can do that. I have paid every stinking fee and chargback to them and they still have over $1000 of mine and do not want to give it back. They have a loss prevention department that gets rewarded only on the money that they receive (my $1000) which is totally unfair and bogus. I wish I had the money to take them to court.
Pros: They are able to process charges but not provide customer service Cons: They are unable to maintain the integrity of their database.
Find another service.
After 8 years with Nova, I Can no Longer afford their screw ups. They lose my contact info every few months and fail to send me charge back notices. When I learn of them, the deadline for objecting is past.
They fix my address and then loose it again a few months later.
No one can afford to do business with them.
Nova rips off on terminal deal by ragweed62 ,Jun 01 '06
Pros: Customer Service 24X7. Cons: Rip off
I have been with Nova for three years, and I just received a notice from them requiring me to upgrade my equipment to model T7 Plus at their special promotion price of $399 or face a monthly equipment charge. I told them I can buy one online for about $200, but they would not match it. They also just start to charge me a monthly statement fee. I would like to take my business elswhere but I have a contract with them for another year. My current terminal works just fine, and it has more memory (1Mb) than the one they want me to upgrade (512Kb).
Pros: No pros so sorry, will have to refer to the cons elsewhere for information. Cons: Too expensive, too many hidden charges, monthly minimums and no up front advertising.
I tried to get a card with imprinter services for 2.02% + .27per trans through Costco Executive Membership. I was recommended by someone who pays only transaction fees at an Irish Dancing Competition last weekend. They have changed the fees since she got hers a few years ago, probably when bought by U. S. Bankcorp (USB). Now they want $180 for software? and $4.95 per month for software and a minimum contract of 2 years and a $20 minimum monthly charge. I'm an artist and I don't have monthly sales. I'll be looking elsewhere
Pros: Excellent service, competitive rates. Cons: None, so far.
I'm not sure what the difficulties with the other two reviewers may have been. I have been a Nova merchant for more than 3 years and have always had top notch customer service. They're customer service representatives are always friendly, courteous and strive to provide answers to all of my questions and concerns.
CYA when closing NOVA account by sewcenlisa ,Aug 10 '09
Pros: You can accept credit cards. Cons: They will keep adding fees and charges until you make nothing. Non-existent customer service.
When you decide to close your NOVA account (and you will, after they help themselves to your bank account) don't even try to fax the close form to them. They will lose it. For months. And charge you extra fees every month. Send the form hard copy, US Mail, Certified mail, return receipt requested. Then if they have lost it you have the proof it was received.
I WAS TOLD TO GO TO HELL BY THIS COMPANY by mickey4313 ,Jul 21 '09
Pros: There are none. Cons: Dispicable treatment of potential customers.
I was called by this company who was representing Bank One where I have my credit card. After I told them three times that I was not interested in getting "free" gasoline rewards or discounts on area stores where I would be billed acharged monthly, their wonderful representative told me and I quote "Go to Hell" and then hung up on me. I WOULD NEVER WANT THIS COMPANY TO REPRESENT A BUSINESS OF MINE AND YOU SHOULDN'T EITHER. They rate no stars from me!
