ADP PCPayroll For Windows: Better Than The Alternative ***9/2005 Update

by Saxguy Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Apr 01 '01
Pros: Adequate all-purpose system; multistate tax deposits; integrated payroll and HR
Cons: Inconsistent service, complex system
We’ve had ADP’s PC Payroll for Windows product for about 3 years now and I believe that it is the best choice for a medium-sized payroll where employees are based in multiple states. ***Update, September 2005************************** ...

ADP - It's their way or the highway

by cfodul , Jun 20 '06
Pros: They offer a lot of nice programs (timeclock, 401k) seem like an innovator.
Cons: Too large, service isn't personalized, won't stand behind their mistakes, very costly.
I have been doing payroll with ADP since 2001. I've never felt that the quality of the service matched the amount that I was paying. I've also noticed that the costs for my services kept increasing significantly. I never bothered to look because I ...

More than Meets the Eye

by joshuat , Jun 26 '01
Pros: Well developed software; easy enough to use but powerful enough to deliver
Cons: Price; Additional Features
ADP Pc/Payroll for Windows tied with ReportSmith and SuperData Access has been an extremely powerful tool for all of our reporting and payroll processing needs.

ADP provided timely and fast 24 hour service for payroll delivery, while also...

ADP's ezlabor component

by kardreader , Jul 18 '05
Pros: not much of anything
Cons: clunky and counter-intuitive, works only with IE
The company that I work for has been using the ezlabor component for about a year. I have to say that I have found it to be among the least user-friendly web-based apps that I have encountered. For starters, the application will not work with Firefox ...

ADP was my worst mistake

by mcbeck , Sep 14 '07
Pros: None
Cons: Inaccuracy, poor service, "our way or no way" philosophy
ADP wooed me away from Paychex with promises of lower costs and a better web-based product. This is the worst professional decision I have ever made. After switching to ADP in the beginning of Feb 2007, we haven't had a single payroll run without ...

ADP, All Done Perfect, NOT!

by deb_leeper , Nov 18 '00
Pros: Payroll and Human Resources Together
Cons: Poor Support System
I've work with the ADP products for over 5 years and I've been far from impressed with the software or the support that I have been given from ADP. I'm a manager of a payroll department that pays over 8000 employees across the United States. We started...

Great for Small or Mid Size Firms

by officerdave , Nov 17 '00
Pros: Good interface and support
Cons: "Autopay"
This is a review of ADP's PC Pay for Windows or 'PCPW' for short.

PCPW is ADP's Windows based payroll management software. It will support 1 to 5,000 employees (it could do more, but my personal experience was up to 5,000 employees) very...

ADP: We're No Worse Than Anybody Else

by esq2002 , Apr 26 '01
Pros: Accuracy, Timeliness, No Problems with Tax Filing
Cons: One-size-fits-all Doesn't. Poor Customer Service with no Follow-Through
We are a small company with 225 employees in 2 states, but our payroll policies are far too complex for ADP to handle. The worst problem is having two payroll groups: hourly employees paid weekly & salaried employees paid semi-monthly. ADP can't handle...

ADP is by far the best

by cfo8 , Dec 17 '03
Pros: True Experts, Easy to use systems, training, integration of products, sales force
Cons: They send out a ton of information, newsletters, mailings, email, surveys, telemarketing.
I have worked in the payroll industry for 15 years and can tell you without hesitation that ADP is by far the best payroll service available. The company I work for today has about 220 employees in 3 plants in Indiana and Ohio. We are considered to be ...

A. Deadbeat. Payroll. Service

by mszorak , Dec 15 '00
Pros: Other companies do exist!!!!
Cons: They haven't gone out of business ( YET )
A.D.P is supposed to be one of the most professional and best known payroll service in the U.S. This is only because of a wide effort on their part to be aggressive marketers. If you are a small business, shop around their are way better...

ADP Payroll for Small Business - Poor Service

by berejikian , Aug 24 '07
Pros: Strong sales force
Cons: Poor service, many mistakes, slow response, moderate costs, only okay reporting materials
I recently switched to ADP from Intuit Payroll. I was sold on the fact that they handle the workers comp insurance and get lower rates for that. However, I have to say I was with Intuit for over 3 years without a single problem. I have been with ...

ADP not helpful...

by jfraunie , Mar 25 '01
Pros: Reports and taxes!
Cons: Customer support and customizing features
We decided to stop doing in house payroll and looked around for payroll vendors who were offering payroll services. We had an ADP representative come in and give us the presentation that was pretty informative, but obvious that the representative was...

EZLABOR IS ANYTHING BUT EASY
by selenam03 ,Apr 02 '06
Pros: ezLabor may have major problems, but the parent company, ADP is wonderful to work with.
Cons: They wasted my money on computers, when obviously after 3 computers, it is their software.
My computer stopped being able to communicate with the time-clock. I bought another laptop...it can't communicate with the time-clock, because the modem isn't recognized. Hours of time was wasted on the phone, to be told this by ezLabor. I was told (after one laptop worked for two years) and was replaced by another laptop, that the virtual modems don't connect to the time-clocks. Thousands of dollars worth of computers later, I installed the software on a new desktop. Surprise: the desktop doesn't communicate with the time-clock! Once again, the modem isn't recognized. So, now my employees will have a problem with day light savings time, because I can't "initialize" the time-clock to switch the time. By the way, none of the computers were located in the same place, so it isn't the building, or the computers. The ezLabor technical team was not helpful at all! One excuse after another for why my computers modems aren't recognized by ezLabor's software. I am making a call on Monday morning, to find another time management payroll company.

not for faint of heart
by mdacpa ,Sep 21 '05
Pros: i suppose once set up, it will be good-not yet tho
Cons: 15 word maximum is not enough space! too many people involved
We switched from Paychex to ADP because I was told ADP was completely integrated with HR, Time Clock and Payroll Reporting. Have not found that to be so. I have dealt with no less than a dozen experts in parts unknown in the US and Canada so far. If you rely on hands on contact and fact to face training-FORGET IT-they do everything over the phone and online. You can NOT get a human body to come to your place of business (except for the original smooth talking sales person!). If I wasn't afraid my staff would hang me from the nearest tree, I would switch back to Paychex or Paycor at this point. If you are a small business (less than 100 people) or as stated in another opinion, if you have anything out of straight vanilla brand payroll, forget it-their system is so tight and very difficult to customize-c'est la vie with ADP

Late filing of taxes
by mrmoncureNew Member ,Apr 30 '08
Pros: Big company w/ lots of advertising, all false by the way.
Cons: Not timely. Frequently inaccurate. They attempt corrections & make it worse.
Our company (250 employees) has been waiting for our quarterly returns and been given the most ridiculous excuses. Over the previous two and a half weeks, I have been told, at least 4 times, that the returns have been sent two days ago and that I need to be patient. Growing closer to April 30th, I began requesting that a supervisor or manager contact me. Nope, none, nada. Well, they did show-up, at 11am on April 30th (I must prepare and file all taxes by 5pm that same day)........WRONG!!! No time to make corrections and receive correct reports. I now am relegated to calculating everything myself using an Excell spreadsheet totalling every employee's 1stQtr paycheck. Did I mention that we pay weekly? ADP has completely let us down, and with no apology. I am searching for a new payroll processor. Any suggestions? No one could have worse customer service than ADP so it should be easy. Take my advice, use a different payroll processing company, and they will probably be less expensive too!
