Does its job and does it well

I bought this drive last October as a replacement to my old CD-ROM drive, which broke....that'll teach me to go for the cheapest price.

What I think? Any additional cost you pay for the SONY brand name is worth it, especially with something as temperamental as DVD drives.

CD-ROMs of course play and run fine, as they should.

But the SONY difference is that DVD's run BEAUTIFULLY on my computer, which is far from state-of-the-art (P2/333/64mb RAM).

You can also send the video and audio to a TV, and the output is flawless.

A worthwhile investment...installation was smooth, and the Sony support is always there when you need them.

Note: Make sure you're getting a good hardware decoder card with the package - your options will vary depending on where you get it. Do NOT settle for software decoders!
