I purchased this printer to replace my recently departed HP2500C ink jet. I got it online for $2,200 with free shipping. I looked at numerous other printers but just fell in love with the output of this printer. It is absolutely stunning. I originally planned on getting rid of my 2 year old HP4000T monochrome printer but am glad I kept it. If you are printing a lot of color especially photos the time between prints with some software packages is very long. So the old 4000 still comes in handy.
Set up is tough, this thing is HEAVY!! You should have two people or a professional weightlifter to be safe. The overall ease of use is pretty good but as mentioned by others installing the toner and drum kit takes some time to get down pat. The warnings on the printer give plenty of time to buy new consumables before you run out. This pays off if you buy online and don't want to worry about down time while waiting for the shipment. Also as others have mentioned this requires a lot more consumables than a few cartridges. Consider this before buying.
Ok there are a few gripes. The warmup time is too long for my taste and it is a bit noisy. The drum life seems a little short too. You can extend it by not collating multiple page documents, especially color ones. This is not time efficient if it is a large document. Paper jams have been few and have been limited to the add on paper tray. A few power errors have also occurred but have disappeared after restart with no ill effects.
The price on this printer is down to the low to mid $2,000 range now and with the current $200 rebate this printer is great for any small business or workgroup with a need of high quality color output.
