PROS:

- Features: Nice array of comprehensive features- LARGE hard disk, DVD (including software DVD player).
- Keyboard: Very smooth & comfortable; I find this to be especially important for a notebook, since most are very uncomfortable. Also, the stick mouse is much more usable than the touch pad (& less prone to break). For those that have never used a stick mouse, you may think a touch pad more user-friendly but a stick mouse is
- Support: This could've very well gone the other way into the CON section, but if you call the right number (the one that comes w/ your warranty pack), you will get outstanding service. The other #s (e.g. on the Toshiba Support web site) give you mediocre service.

CONS:

- VERY heavy: I commute to work everyday with this "brick" & often consider buying something lighter despite all the niceties.
- Screen: Could be better- although the graphics are crisp, the colors a bit dull, almost washed out.
- Sound: Sounds "trashy" at mid-higher volume. Sometimes, I can't even play my DVD movies w/o an external speaker.

GOTCHAS:

If you live in the US, you will save yourself alot of headache if you purchase a US model. There is differences between the JAPAN/CANADA model & the US model. For example, if you order the recovery CD from the US, it only works on the US models. Furthermore, Toshiba will not ship you a recovery CD across borders (due to copyright laws). Also, the US model comes w/ a modem w/ cell phone connection whereas the CANADA model does not.


ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:
This is a solid machine. You will always be reminded of the fact that you got a good deal but if you're a road warrior, this is probably not the machine for you. It's just too bulky & HEAVY. On the flip side, it does make an excellent desktop replacement.
