| engrdav's Full Review: AOpen PA 3000 |
I purchased the AOpen PA3000 in January 2000 when I upgraded my machine. The card has 16 meg of memory. I bought this card for the memory, price (about $70), and chipset. I'm running an AMD K6-2 450 and the NVidia/TNT2 Vanta chipset was highly regarded for my system configuration.
Installation was very easy with the included cd-rom. The cd rom included Directx 6.1, which is slightly out of date. A new version of Directx is available at the Microsoft site.
I had lots of problems with my previous video card but have yet to have any with this one. It cleared up ghosting problems I had and supports a high refresh rate for my 20" monitor with 1074 x 768 resolution.
I do have a problem with Need for Speed 3 (it is not utilizing the Directx drivers), but I think the problem is with the program, not the card.
All in all, this seems to be a very good card for the price.
