Is This the Same Thinkpad Quality We Have Known ?

I have been a Thinkpad user since the PS/2 Note 386 notebook. To date I have about 7 Thinkpads. The i Series (i1410 2611-410) will be the last Thinkpad I will buy or maybe the last IBM product I will buy.

First, this Thinkpad had the sound system repaired (it easily gets hot), the speakers replaced, the Battery replaced and the hard drive replaced (had to reconfigure and reinstall software and setup everything not mention loose alll my incoming mail).

Second this Thinkpad only supports Windows 98, it would not even work normally with Windows 95. It does not work with NT and the most unacceptable fact is it is not going to work normally with OS/2, IBM's own operating system.

Third, the support structure is very poor. Their owner privilege program misspelled my name, I asked them to correct it, nothing happened. It also takes a month before I can have an answer to my question sent via email. I also called their live support, they do not know the pre-loaded software on my machine, they do not have the CD available supposedly until I talked to 3 customer care representatives. The software I was told that I will receive in two months came in two days when the customer care representative learned that I can still return the machine to IBM because it was still less than 14 days old.

One good thing I can say about the product is that it has good world wide support but still is not enough for me to buy another IBM product.
