This computer packs a lot of power in its small frame. It comes with 64MB of SyncDRAM, 500Mhz AMD-K6-2 processor, sound card, speakers, and a digital camera. Windows 98 comes pre-installed, and it's speed is fantastic. Not to mention a 56K modem with a top speed of 115K. The internet connection is quick and strong, and ends only when I want or when the phone goes out.
I have read some of the "horror stories" posted by some of the other members. But there aren't any about this model because it isn't true. Every computer freezes up now and then, and this one only when too much is going on. That's a user problem, not a computer problem.
The monitor display is crystal clear and I have to actually touch it to make sure it isn't a flat screen monitor (it isn't). The adjustment buttons are so easy--no more hunting underneath the monitor. They are right in front and display an on-screen menu.
I have been using this computer for not only pleasure, but for work, and it can handle it. It handles software downloads pretty well--needs to be restarted after each one. But--there is software that cannot be played on an AMD processor. That should always be checked out. Using software that can't be used with that CAN lock up the computer.
To use an old phrase, this computer is "user-friendly" and easy to use for anything.
