Much better than the Sattelite series but . . .
Written: Nov 11 '99
Pros:Strong computer >>> for a laptop
Cons:Over heats, Locks up often, Heavy
I previously had a Toshiba Sattelite 4060 CDT, but have upgraded to the Terca 8000. There is no comparison between the 2, the 8000 blows the 4060 away. However, the 8000 still is not half as reliable as a desktop with the same horsepower.
It comes with an internal CD, but the Floppy drive must be plugged in. It is a fairly heavy laptop, not so good if you are on the go most of the time. The screen is good, but it began to show knicks on it shortly after I bought the computer! Other comments
The sleep function is an absolute nightmare, just turn it off.
The 8000 often locks up on me and my only remedy is to reboot.
The computer gets quite hot (so hot that you can't have it on your lap or it will burn you!)
Also, there are not a lot of plug ins. For example, you can't plug in a 10Key pad AND an external mouse and use it as a regular Desktop.
