SoundBlaster Live! Value… quite simply, it is a wonderful card. The main reason I bought it was due to the fact that Creative produces it. I love Creative for audio (but not video or other devices).
This little card (PCI) does it all, and it even has a Digital (5.1) output. I also love the fact it has two inputs. This, believe it or not, is a useful feature.
The software that comes with the card (I bought the OEM version) is substantial. And, installation is a snap. Insert the card into a free PCI slot, start the computer, and insert the CD… nothing complex there. I had some problems with a PCI128… no conflicts with this card. The quality, in my opinion, is much higher with the Live! series.
Please note that I use my computer for playing DVDs, audio CDs, MP3s, and games… this sound card does them all. The only thing this card lacks are the front jacks that the Platinum has.
