| MsArriana's Full Review: Xerox DocuPrint C6 Printer |
I want to state up front that I am by no means a computer whiz. I know very little about computers or operating them, therefore simplicity is important to me. I have owned two different Emachines computers that I bought as package deals (where the printer, CPU, and monitor are included in the package).
When I purchased my most recent Emachines, it came with the Xerox DocuPrint C6. I got my computer home and couldn't open it up fast enough. It looked simple enough. There was a very simple, detailed diagram on how to hook everything up. It went together without a snag. Then it came time to test it out. Everything worked great EXCEPT the printer.
I have never had such a difficult time with any computer component. This printer seemed to have a mind of its own. I would try to print a paper and it would work fine. Five minutes later I would try to print another paper and would get error messages. Because I am not real advanced when it comes to computer know how, I assumed that this was something I was doing wrong. After nearly a week of "playing" around with this printer and trying relentlessly to figure out what I was doing wrong, I gave up. I called Office Depot which is where I purchased my computer and they were very nice about exchanging it.
Well of course as soon as I got home with the new printer (the same model) I had to set it up immediately to be sure it was in fine working condition. The newest printer has been a major improvement, but it still has it days. There have been a few occasions where I have tried to print something out only to get a message saying that I am out of ink (when I know I am not), or that the computer was unable to locate a printer (when I know it is hooked up properly), or it is out of paper (when it is actually full). This can be quite annoying. Each time I have run in to this problem, I have had to reboot my computer and then it works ok.
All in all this printer puts out pretty good print quality. This is definitely not a printer I would purchase on my own, but since it is the one that came with the computer, I had no choice. I would not recommend this printer to a friend because there are just too many bugs, which can be very frustrating for someone who is not a computer whiz.
