Not Great, but good enough

Pros:Free long distance, no account needed
Cons:May not be for those with slow connections
I use the Net2Phone service that comes bundled with the Yahoo Messenger program. I have used it quite a bit and overall am pretty satisfied. When I first tried using Net2Phone, I didn?t want to set up an account, so I didn?t download the software. But with the Yahoo Messenger, you don?t need an account. It is free, but each time you make a call a small add pops up that says ?This call brought to you by?? or something like that. Definitely something I can live with.
The service itself is good. I also used Phone for Free (I think that?s what its called) and the sound quality on Net2Phone was better, although to be honest I didn?t compare the connection speeds. I have used Net2Phone from my house (56K modem) and from work (T1) and I can say the faster your connection the happier you will be with the service. From home, the conversation was pretty clear?a little static here and there?but the delay was very pronounced. It was like talking over a walkie talkie. However at work the delay almost vanished. Almost. It was still there but the conversation was much more natural and phone like. If I had a T1 connection at home I would probably get rid of at least my long distance service and use this exclusively.
