My brother insisted I open my present the moment I arrived ... 10 p.m., 5 days before Christmas. While I had been hoping for a Logitech Wingman Formula Force, I soon realized how much better off I was with the Force RS. Besides a more realistic wheel with a near-leather covering, the pedals are much more sturdy, and the base that they rest on is more comfortable when you are attempting to complete 24 hours of Le Mans with just one driver!
The feedback effects are strikingly realistic with the games I have tried [CART Precision Racing, Need for Speed 3, Monster Truck Madness, Carmageddon 3, and Midtown Madness]. Better yet, all of the controls on the wheel and down/up shifters are completely configurable so that you'll never have to use the keyboard unless you really prefer driving with only one hand.
The only weaknesses I've seen are relatively minor. The cables can connect to either serial or USB ports, which then plug into the back of the wheel unit by a cartridge which also connects to the pedals. It all works fine and is extremely convenient for connecting & disconnecting ... it just isn't quite as pretty as some units that connect with just one cable. Since I'm running Win95 I have had to use the serial port connection, which means that I don't get to use all of the extra buttons on the wheel.
For this price, you'd have to be out of your mind to buy a wheel that didn't have force feedback, and with the other force feedback wheels on the market you could spend a whole lot more than the price of the Force RS without getting any better performance or value.
