| jmmatlock's Full Review: Dell Inspiron 7000 A400LT |
Ok, I'll admit that I wanted a slim, sleek Sony Vaio. My husband wanted "more power" and bought me this Dell Inspiron 7000 for my birthday. Forget Sony. I love my computer. It's fast, easy to use, easy to understand (I am normally not a computer person) and the best part is the PERSONAL TECHNICAL SUPPORT. Unfortunately, my motherboard had a wiring problem that showed up as an annoyance for a while, then one day just conked out completely. During the annoyance, I called Dell tech support and got my own technician who basically did not care that I was clueless, but waited patiently while I followed his step-by-step instructions and also waited patiently while I calmed down a screaming son! When I eventually had to send my laptop for repair, I was in the middle of a deadline for a book I was working on and hysterical. I put the laptop in the shipping box at 4:20pm Tuesday afternoon and had my fixed computer back in my hands at 8:34am Wednesday morning!
The ONLY drawback to this marvelous machine (which in a year has barely lost any value) is that it is HEAVY. I had to take it with me to a publishing convention last spring and ended up hiking 1/2 a mile through the airport in Dallas with the thing flung over my shoulder. The next day, I had such a sore shoulder, I couldn't lift my arm (the right one) to shake my publisher's hand!
Great piece of machinery, but it doesn't travel well.
