For beginners who has never used a compute before, you can get a computer under the cost of 1500. However, you should ask yourself why you need a computer for before you buy anything. No matter you buy it for games, for school, or for music, there are many products out there for you to chose from so you need to pay close attentions when you buy. For people who are buying for school use or for listening to music, you don't need a very powerful computer. When you run windows and office 95/97/00, you don't need a very powerful cpu or alot of ram to make it happen. As a matter of fact, a pentium I with 200 MMX cpu and 64 mb or ram will be more than enough for all of you documentations. For music listeners, all you need is enough ram and a nice sound card. For people not asking for super qualities, a 128-bit sound card will make your music a pleasant experience. For gammers, you might need a bit more. After all, when you are playing games, you want it to run smooth. Besides, games today requires nice grahpic cards and good quality sound cards to let you enjoy the fullest of the game. If you are a beginner who needs everything, such as the mother board, the hard drive, the sound card, the grahpic card, ram, monitor, printer, speaker and all. 1500 can get you a very decent computer, for gammers that is. For school use, you can buy a PII cpu, 64 mb of ram, 5400 rpm hard drive with 10 to 24 giga bytes, a mother board, a monitor and a printer for around 1250 to 1400. Of course, a newer computer may be nice, but there's no point of buying an extremely powerful computer when you don't have the need. Ask yourself what you need before you head down to the shops, you can save a lot of money if you just spend a few hours asking friends who have computer knowledge. Buy something you need, don't buy something that are new and look nice. It's quite likely you won't need it. After all, you are not buying a computer that can teach you how to build a satellite, you want a computer that can make you life easier.
