I'm talking about my very inexpensive 5-watt speakers from Altec Lansing Computer Speaker System, Model ACS22. Don't laugh now! How can I say that? Well, I'll explain-- When I bought my PC a few short months ago, it had the most tiny-looking speakers that one could imagine. They must have been all of 1-1/2 inches in height and the same in diameter. They were worthless, crackling and I said, enuf already!!
So one day while shopping again at Office Max, I stumbled into this nifty little 5-watt speaker system. Right now I'm listening to one my beautiful jazz selections on stereo thanks to Winamp and these great speakers. What more could one ask for? They don't sound crackling or tiny-sounding. There is a good balance that you can adjust on your volume control and the music comes through with great quality. I can hear the distinctive piano, clarinet, and sax along with vocals clear as a bell.
I don't even have it cranked up halfway, but when I do turn it up it does not diminish the quality at all. Another added feature is the plug-in for headphones that come in handy especially if you live in an apartment such as I do, and you do don't want to disturb your neighbors.
I think this is a good buy for the money, especially if you are a younger person on a limited budget. You don't need big woofers to get good sound. There is even a one-year warranty which you can't beat for this nominal price. I highly recommend this product if your new PC comes with those teeny-tiny speakers that mine came with...
