The best card for your money

Written: Dec 13 '99
Pros:Awesome performance for under $150
Cons:Lacks 32-bit 3D color support

I just love this card!! From the minute I saw the pre-release spec's I knew this was going to be a great card. I originally had a Matrox Millenium II and a 3dfx 12MB Voodoo2 3D card. I was extremely impressed at the performance of the card right from the get-go. I immediately noticed a performance increase, and the graphics are superb. Although I think this is a great card, I think the 16-bit maximum resolution in 3D was kind of disappointing, but when I really analyzed the situation, personally I didn't see a big difference in the image quality from 32-bit to 16-bit. Another slight dip in the card is the texture size limit. At 256x256 (I believe that what it is) the newer games (quake3, etc.) utilize a 2056x2056 texture size, which is the wave of the future. Those two items are really the only problems I see with this great card!!
