I have been an Aol Instant Messenger user ever since I started using the internet about 4 years ago. It has been a wonderful communication tool which has kept me in contact with a great number of people (friends, family, business partners). No where else on the net will you find such a widely implemented chat program, with the exception of the bulky and confusing ICQ application.
The new AIM not only allows you to send files back and forth between friends but also lets two people engage in real-time voice conversation, just like over the phone! Another nifty feature is the new mail alert option, which plays a sound whenever you have a new message in your inbox (only if you use a POP3 e-mail account).
I enjoy AIM because of its simplicity and ease of use. All I have to do is double-click its icon on my desktop, let it connect me to the AIM servers, and then check out who else it online (note: you can only chat with people who also have the AIM program turned on). The hardest part is coming up with a nickname to chat under! ;)
