Adaptec has made steady improvements in their recording software. Their most recent version, Easy CD Creator 4, is no exception. Offering audio, data, and multimedia recording is standard in almost all cd recording programs now. What makes Easy CD Creator rise above the rest is that it can automatically create labels for you and allows you to design covers and inserts for your CDs.

I love the audio interface, and I think it is the best software for recording music cds. Unfortunately, it is not recommended for making backups of software cds. It uses up a lot of space when closing sessions, and thus may not copy properly if the cd is copy protected. So if you want to make backups of your software, I recommend using CDRWin (made by Golden Hawk Technology).

The worst part about the software package is the amount in costs. $99 is on the expensive side. One of their main competitors is Ahead's Nero, which costs $69 and offers a nice on the fly mp3 to wav feature along with their product. Luckily, Adaptec now offers a $20 rebate to their software, making it a lot better deal and more affordable to all. Ofcourse, I would be wary of any mail-in rebate offers. Download Nero and CDRWin (they are available from their websites) and see if you like them. Chances are you may not want to spend $99 on cd recording software.

Overall, I think Adaptec has created an excellent CD recording program. Just some minor changes in the way it closes sessions and a better price would make it my complete recording solution.
