Pros:Attractive layout, additional features
Cons:Constantly crashed, encountered several problems in trying to create audio or data cds
In viewing the other reviews of this product, I found that I will be one of the few who recommend avoiding this product. I have spent a great deal of time in putting together an impressive mp3 collection and then the creating of cds for myself or friends etc.
I recently upgraded to Adaptec 4.0 Easy Cd Creator and left it installed on my system for almost 72 hours. During that time, I ruined about 14 blank cds and spent several frustrating hours in trying to get the program to work. I continually received error messages and production problems when trying to create cds, audio or data. Four friends of mine at school who recently attempted the upgrade encountered nothing but headaches as well.
Which lead to the next problem. For some reason, we all found that if you
are running the second version of Windows 98, once the new version is installed- it takes a great amount of time and difficulty in un-installing it and re-installing the older version. Once this was done, the older version worked flawlessly for me and my friends as well. All five systems that tried this were running at 450 PIII or higher, with ample capacities for the CD creation.
My advice, if you have not upgraded to version 4 yet- wait. If you have, I wish you the best of luck in creating your cds and the possible re-installation of the older version if you deem it necessary. I feel there are bugs in this product that have not yet been worked out, wait a few months until the problems are identified and fixed- then Adaptec will have a superior product.
