| kid33's Full Review: Dell Latitude CPx |
Being a mobile support tech, I needed to have a top of the line laptop to handle all of my problems. In the past year, I have used 4 different laptops. When I finally got the Cpx, I was in love. There are so many highlights for this laptop with so few drawbacks that I can't see why everyone wouldn't want one.
First of all, I am running a CPx 650 with 256mg of ram and a 12gig HDD. If this is not enough to handle your everyday support problems, you may as well carry a small server. With a 12gig HDD, you have ample storage space to carry any and all applications that you will need. I frequently backup smaller HDD to mine when I am doing various hardware repair. Speed is also not a problem. Running at 650MHz and 256mg of ram, all of my application run very quick and smooth. Many times, I will be running 6 to 7 applications at the same time with little to no lag in response time. Another eye catcher is the display size. This particular laptop has a 14.4 inch display. This is a large display for any laptop. It allows me the ability to view and work in multiple windows at the same time.
There are some drawbacks to this laptop though. The first is the use of both the touchpad and nipple pointing devices. If you use the nipple, the mouse buttons are either too close or to far if you try to use the buttons for the touch pad. I also have found that touchpad can be very unresponsive at times. I have taken apart many of the Dell laptops and have found that the connection to the motherboard is not very solid. If you start to experience erratic mouse behavior, check this connection. Another drawback is the weight. If you travel a lot, you may want to consider the Dell CS series. My laptop weighs 8 pounds or so. Now I do realize that this is a not a lot of weight, but when you travel, the lighter the better.
Overall, I would highly recommend this computer to anyone who is looking for a high quality, high end laptop that will me your every performance demand.
