| KCFemme's Full Review: Microsoft FrontPage 2000 |
After trying other web design softwares, I always end up coming back to Microsoft FrontPage. Why? Because it is simple to use. It truly is WYSIWYG technology.
What is WYSIWYG? This is the common term for "What You See Is What You Get" usually pronounced wizzywig. Basically if you place your title in the center of the screen, make it 28 pitch font, and blue, that is exactly how it is going to come out on your web page.
MS FrontPage 2000 is the upgraded version of what I have usually used. I must say, there aren't a lot of major changes to it. When I loaded it up the first time I was able to get right in there and start creating.
The only thing I really don't like that much is that the setup is more like a document. Kind of like if you were using MS Word. When creating a web page I think it would be a lot more user friendly if it were more like MS Publisher, where you can put graphics where you want with the text next to it without worrying that the graphic is going to overpower what you are trying to say.
However, unlike Dreamweaver, if you want to create a link to a new page that hasn't been built yet, all you have to do when choosing the link is select a "New Page" instead of designating a specific link. FrontPage will actually create the new page for you and establish the link at the same time.
When my kids came to "Take Your Kids To Work Day" with me, I wanted to show them some of the things that I did. One of which is creating web pages. So as their report for their teacher, each of them created their own web page, including graphics and music. One even included some of her favorite links.
The result of all the hard work and effort that you put into it is a professionally designed web site. There are so many styles and templates that it is easy for everyone to use. If you know what you want to say, but don't know how to design it, choose one of the many templates FrontPage offers to get you started.
If you are planning on doing a lot of web publishing, I would definitely recommend trying out FrontPage 2000. However, because of the cost ($199) if you are planning on just creating a simple home page and that is it, I would recommend finding out if your Internet Service Provider has something for you.
