My Gateway Experience

I've read some of the opinions about The Gateway Computer and I too try to find any means possible to steer others away from Gateway.
I bought a Gateway a year ago. When I purchased the first one, they didn't tell me what options I had or what they had but sent one, which I returned within 2 weeks. They accepted the return and set up a new system, that is supposed to be a Pentium lll but doesn't run like one. In the course of returning the first one and receiving the second one I was on the phone many hours on hold. Many times when I tried to call the 800 no. the message was all attendants are busy, call back later "click". I discovered that if I called sells, I usually got an answer, and could be transferred to someone. That didn't always work though. I made many phone calls to correct incorrect billing. I became so disgusted with their so-called help and with the way this computer runs, and so disappointed that I make sure I tell anyone who says "I'm thinking about getting a Gateway" that they might want to reconsider and do some checking. I hold my breath every time I turn the thing on. It is slow and it sometimes sounds like something is going to go any minute. It grinds, the CD ROM doesn't work properly, the A drive makes a lot of noise and sounds like it's ready to go. I have to format the hard drive and reinstall several times. I've had it crash more than once. It runs very slow for a Pentium lll. In the Bios it says it's a Pentium lll but in Windows it says it's a Pentium ll (R). I don't understand that part. When I reinstalled it the last time, I saw a flash of words that said Pentium ll board. Don't know why it would say that. I don't know how long my Gateway will last, but my nephew, who is studying Computer Technology, says it looks like my hard drive isn't going to last much longer. He did open it up and was amazed at the age of some of the parts. Well all I can say is that I am one dissatisfied customer and Gateway has an excuse for everything.
