How often have you heard that? Not much huh?! Well considering all the choices out there (there are many) this one is tops on my list.
I had tried a free service in the beginning. Two months after I signed up they went out of business with no warning whatsoever. My emails were lost and I vowed never again would I go with free. (Perhaps there are better ones out there now, but considering this was 4 years ago this one was one of a handful of free services and most were having the same problems.)
I tried the "popular ones" (you know the ones I am talking about:)and had busy signals and with one had to wait on hold for a customer service agent for 45 minutes only to be told "Oh I'm sorry, our equipment is too old and does not support YOUR 56k modem". I really wished they had mentioned that on their ad that claimed they had "lightning fast" 56k modem speeds! (considering this was 3 years ago 56k was "lightning fast")
Then I found Mindspring. Referred to us by a co-worker of my husbands we were skeptical but since we were running out of ideas we thought we'd try it.
I called up their customer service number and was pleasantly suprised by an answer on the third ring. I was told that either I could go pick up a free CD at my local computer store or he would be happy to mail me one for the installation. I called my husband asked him if he could pick one up on the way home from work.
After sticking the CD in the drive everything was automatic. The install only took a few minutes. I was on my way! I decided maybe I should call the customer service again for setting up my email account and had the same speedy response. The agent had me set up in no time and I was surfing the net that night.
I have had this service for 3 years and have not any problems whatsoever. I have no problem paying the $19.95 a month simply for the convenience of always having my service there. I have never had a busy signal and the security of knowing that I can call their customer service and not have an all afternoon or night wait is comforting.
I am currently waiting for DSL to be available in my area. They already have DSL just not in my area. As soon as they do I will be the first one to sign up.
I have recommended Mindspring to many people and they all have had the same experience with the customer service. I only wish all businesses would have this level of customer care.
NO AD BARS!! NOTHIN' BUT NET!
