Microsoft Word is an absolutely amazing product. It contains helpers and hints no other word processor can offer. Not only that, but it is simple to use, and anyone from a six year old to a 106 year old can figure it out. Word 2000 can help you with everything from newsletters to letters, websites to epinions!
Why is Microsoft Word so great?
Microsoft Word offers some choices that are excellent. Every time you spell something wrong, say “speling” it underlines the misspelled word in red. When you click on the word it gives you choices the word could be. By clicking on the word you wanted, it corrects it for you. Another helpful tool on Word is the “Finish For Me” tool. When you start to type certain words, such as months and days, above the word you are typing it gives the word it believes you are writing. By pressing enter, the word is completed for you. The thesaurus is unbelievably easy to use; just right click on the word and move the mouse to synonyms, then click the word and “BOOM!” it’s fixed! Grammar mistakes are also corrected for you, with a green squiggly line underneath the mistake. Another feature in Microsoft Word is that you can add hyperlinks, sounds, pictures, or even video to your typing. It doesn’t make much sense, but if you are sending it away it transfers the attachment as well. Finally, adding tables or borders has never been simpler. (I also like the millions of fonts!)
So it’s great, hallelujah, but I am computer impaired… will I be able to use it?
Most definitely! Microsoft Word makes everything so simple to use. Instead of having to search for the tool you want it’s easy to find. The instruction booklets clarify everything else you need to know. Most people tend to fiddle with Microsoft Word until they are experts at it. A freshman in high school in California tells me, “It’s amazing how good I am at typing now. It’s so simple with Word. I love it! My homework always looks awesome!”
Will it work on my computer?
Word 2000 runs on most Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, and Windows 2000 computers. You will need about 30 MB of space. Depending upon how much you store on you computer and how much remains on a CD-Rom, it could take up to 500 MB. It will also take you extra space for any extra feature you want installed.
I’m on a budget, can I afford this?
Truth is, maybe not. It costs around $85.00 for Word 2000, but it is well worth it. It will last forever with great efficiency. Again all these programs are included with Office 2000 Standard for the price of $249. There are other versions available such as: Small Business, Professional, Premium, and Standard. More information can be read at Microsoft Office 2000’s Homepage (http://www.microsoft.com/office/word/).
Note from NewYorkRy
Yes, Microsoft Word is a little pricey, but it’s 200% worth it. The features are amazing, the system is easy, and it makes anyone look like a professional. I recommend it to anyone.
